Title case and sentence case
Title case capitalises the first letter of every word, which is how most headlines, product names and menu labels are written. Sentence case capitalises only the first word of each sentence, which suits meta descriptions, body copy and UI text.
Note that title case here capitalises every word, including short words like 'of' and 'the'. House styles differ on those, so give an important headline a quick read before publishing it.
The developer-friendly styles
camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case strip punctuation and join words, which is handy for variable names, file names and column headers imported from a spreadsheet. For page addresses, the slug generator is the better fit — it also handles accents and optional stop-word removal.
What to do next
- count the words in the converted text — words, characters, sentences and reading time
- check it against a character limit — live counts with and without spaces
- drop a tidied title into meta tags — with length counters and a search-result preview
