Crop an Image Online
Crop any image to a custom region or a fixed aspect ratio.
Upload a picture and set the crop by offset, width and height, or pick a fixed ratio and let the height follow. The source dimensions are shown as you type, and the cropped result downloads as a PNG.
How to use Crop Image
- 1
Upload an image.
- 2
Set the crop box values or pick a preset ratio.
- 3
Download the cropped image.
Cropping is not resizing
Cropping changes which part of the picture is visible — it removes pixels from the edges and leaves the rest untouched. Resizing keeps the whole picture and changes its pixel dimensions instead.
Most listing and profile images need both: crop to the right ratio first so nothing important is cut off, then resize to the dimensions the platform asks for.
Fixed ratios
Choosing a ratio locks the height to the width you enter, which is the quickest way to prepare a square thumbnail or a wide banner without doing the arithmetic yourself. Leave it on Free when the crop just needs to look right.
What to do next
- set exact pixel dimensions next — scale the cropped image to the size a platform requires
- reduce the file size — the crop exports as a lossless PNG, which can be heavy
- save the crop as a JPG — a lighter format for photos on the web
