UPC and EAN Barcode Generator
Generate CODE128, EAN-13 and UPC barcodes for retail.
Pick a symbology, type the value and get a clean, print-ready barcode as a PNG. The value is checked against the rules of the format you chose, so an invalid code is flagged before you send a sheet of labels to the printer.
How to use Barcode Generator
- 1
Enter the barcode value.
- 2
Choose a symbology.
- 3
Download the PNG.
Which symbology to choose
UPC is the 12-digit retail code used in North America and needs 11–12 digits. EAN 13 is its 13-digit international equivalent and needs 12–13 digits. Code 128 is the flexible one: it encodes letters and numbers, so it suits internal SKUs, bin locations and asset tags.
Code 39 is an older alphanumeric format still common on industrial labels, and ITF 14 is used on outer cartons and shipping cases.
What this tool does and does not do
It draws a scannable image from the number you supply and downloads it as a PNG for your label template. It does not register or reserve a code for you.
Retail UPC and EAN numbers have to be issued to your business by GS1 before shops will accept them; for stock control inside your own warehouse, any consistent Code 128 value works fine.
What to do next
- generate a QR code instead — for links, WiFi details or text a phone camera should read
- size the label image — set exact pixel dimensions before placing it in a label sheet
