Discount Percentage Calculator

Calculate sale price, savings and effective discount instantly.

Enter the original price and the percentage off to see the final price and the money saved. A second field lets you stack another discount — an extra 10% on an already reduced price — and shows the effective discount the two add up to.

How to use Discount Calculator

  1. 1

    Enter the original price.

  2. 2

Enter one or two stacked discounts.

  3. 3

How a discount percentage is calculated

The sale price is the original price multiplied by (100 − discount) ÷ 100. A 20% discount on ₹2,499 gives ₹2,499 × 0.80 = ₹1,999.20, and the saving is the difference, ₹499.80.

Stacked discounts do not simply add up. 20% followed by another 10% is applied to the already reduced price, so the effective discount is 28%, not 30%. The calculator shows that effective figure so you can compare offers honestly.

Discount, profit and margin are different questions

A discount tells you what the customer pays. It does not tell you what you keep. Once you know the sale price, the profit calculator works out earnings at that price after cost, and the margin calculator works backwards from a target margin to the price you need.
